New sweaters may shed loose fibers. Shake the sweater gently before wearing to remove floating fibers. Avoid trying on sweaters over other clothes to prevent lint transfer.
Note: Shedding is normal for quality natural fiber sweaters. Chemical removal methods may not have long-term health effects, but natural shedding is safer.
1. Prepare the Solution: Fill a basin with an appropriate amount of water and add a suitable amount of laundry detergent or washing liquid. Dissolve the detergent in lukewarm water (approximately one bowl of detergent to half a basin of water). Gently agitate the solution to ensure it mixes well.
2. Rinse and Soak: Start by rinsing the sweater in clean water to remove any dust. Dip the sweater into the detergent solution, gently knead and rinse it 2-3 times. Soak the sweater in the solution for 15 minutes, then rinse with clean water to remove any remaining detergent.
Important: These two steps must be done separately. To reduce lint shedding, wrap the sweater in a mesh laundry bag and place it in the freezer for a day. This process minimizes lint shedding after washing.
Place the washed sweater in a laundry bag before spinning in a washing machine. If no laundry bag is available, lay the sweater flat to dry. This will help the sweater maintain its shape.
While machine washing is possible, it is not recommended. For delicate care, use a laundry bag for machine washing. When drying, ensure the sweater is laid flat or folded over a drying rack to avoid stretching. Avoid hanging as it may cause the sweater to deform.
